THE FIRST KOALA

PROJECT: HELPING HANDS
The first Koala

Once upon a time there was a boy that didn't have parents. He was very lazy and naughty. He lived in Australia in a tribe. One day in the dry season there was no water in the ponds, lakes or rivers. That was the season when all the tribe had to go to a faraway place to get water to drink in some water bowls when they were thirsty.

When the tribe came back the boy was very thirsty so he went to a man and he begged:"Can I have some water?” the man answered:"Yes of course but next time go get your own water”. The boy did nothing, he simply stayed sitting down.

One day he was thirsty so he went to the area were the water bowls were but they weren’t there so he looked for them behind trees in containers, or huts. He got tired. Although nobody could hear him, he shouted:"I am thirsty". So he searched among the bushes and there they were. He thought: "They don't want me to drink water, well I don't want them to drink water either" Due to the fact that he saw a little gum tree, he thought: "If I put the water bowls up there I can drink water whenever I want". He went up the tree he climbed and climbed and then some strange magic happened: the tree got bigger. Then when the people came from hunting, he clang to the tree.

All the tribe shouted and a man got mad because the water was up there. He tried to climb the tree but the boy moaned and wailed because they were going to get him so when he fell to the floor, he climbed again. Meanwhile he turned into the 1st koala of Australia.
